The Privilege Programme (PP) is 1 of the 2 follow-up initiatives of the two Stay Human (SH) programmes that took place in 2016 and 2017. Young people, part of the SH programmes raised the issue of privilege as a very relevant topic that goes hand in hand with the topic of Human Rights and essential to reach social equality.
Working within the framework of the SH programmes we mostly focused on minority groups that are discriminated against and we identified that we as young people, are quite able to think of the elements that put others at a disadvantage but we are more reluctant to think how our own privileges puts us at an advantage over others.
We regard privilege as social inequality, particularly in regard to ethnic or racial category, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion and/or social class. And that the different systems of privilege do not exist separately from each other but are intersecting. Privilege exists when one group has something of value that is denied to others simply because of group membership.
Financial structure: 90% of this programme has been made possible with the help of the Erasmus+ programme, 10% is private financing and a lot of love.
